What kind of training and support can I expect to receive as a resource parent?
To become an approved resource parent, applicants will undergo (32) hours of orientation training. They will also be required to complete (24) hours of pre- approval training in a yearly basis. Training provided by Nuevo Amanecer Latino Children’s Services are free of cost.
Each child/youth are assigned an agency social worker who are available to assist resource parents in providing supportive and positive environments for our children and youth.
What kind of financial assistance is available?
Resource families receive a level of care reimbursement to help with the expenses incurred while a child/youth is in their home. Children/youth carry medical and dental insurance coverage while in foster care.
How long does the approval process take?
becoming an approved resource parent typically takes about three months from the initiation of the process.
