The first step is to contact NALCS at (888)625-3321 or email the Adoption Supervisor at cdelviscovo@nalffa.org. When you call, you will be connected with a recruiting counselor who will provide you with information about the adoption process. The recruiting counselor will also inform you regarding upcoming orientation training. In addition, our Adoption Supervisor is available to meet with you and provide an overview of the adoption process, answering any questions you may have.
Next, you will be asked to attend an orientation. The orientation will cover such topics as adoption, the foster care system, the children in the system, and the requirements for and benefits of becoming a resource parent. Additionally, you will have to take First Aid and CPR training, which is offered through the agency, obtain a criminal record clearance, and meet all resource parent requirements. Once all of the documentation is received a Home Study (SAFE) and home inspection will follow.
