California is among the first states to extend foster care services under federal law that provides help to foster youth after 18. The California Fostering Connection to Success ACT (AB12) took effect January 1, 2012, giving foster youth the choice to stay connected to foster care services through age 20.
Nuevo Amanecer Latino Children’s Services (NALCS) provides comprehensive services to e Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) to be placed with resource parents that are prepared to teach and support non minor dependents to gain the skills necessary toward self sufficiency. Services include:

The ultimate goal is to help non minor dependents transition into adulthood by empowering them to become self-sufficient as someone who is able to meet one’s basic need for food, shelter, income, and overall functioning.
